The sumptuous collection of civil silversmith pieces in the castle of Seneffe is the result of the passion of a private Belgian collector, Mr. Claude D'Allemagne, and his wife, Madame Juliette Remy. They gave, and then bequeathed to the Ministry of the French Community of Belgium, this extraordinary collection of silverworks they patiently gathered during their lives.

Concerned to preserve this heritage as well as to enrich it, the French Community has continued for a few years a goldsmith acquisition policy to complete the collection. It has oriented its purchases to works produced in our regions, while remaining attentive to the other strengths of the catalog, such as the French and English silversmith pieces, and highlighting its unique European dimension.
